The Irish Olympic Handball Association (IOHA) is seeking expressions of interest from handball clubs, local sports partnerships and other entities for the organisation of outdoor handball events this summer.
When the Gaelic Athletic Association was formred it helped to promote Gaelic games which included handball and by 1924 they helped create the Irish Amateur Handball Association who set out in organizing regional and international competitions. The game thieved throughout Ireland and became a popular spectating sport for many.

The Ireland national handball team is controlled by the Irish Olympic Handball Association (IOHA) and represents Ireland in international handball matches.
Handball was included in the G.A.A. Charter of 1884 as one of the sports to be promoted by the new Association. In 1924 Comhairle Liathróid Láimhe na hÉireann (the Irish Handball Council) was established to promote, develop and organise the sport.
